Tiankings. There is no sign which is more frequent on thecylinder-seals, whether Babylonian or Assyrian.^ and itwould thus seem that Sin was among the most popular ofAssyrias deities. His name occurs sometimes, though not sofrequently as some others, in the appellations of importantpersonages, as e. g. in that of Sennacherib, which is explainedto mean Sin multiplies brethren. Sargon, who thus namedone of his sons, appears to have been specially attached tothe worship of Sin, to whom, in conjunction with Shamas, he PlateXCVII.
